A screen image or colour name cannot show every detail of a physical fabric. Samples help you assess colour, texture, weight, flexibility, coating and compatibility with other project materials before ordering.
Why screens differ
Display settings, camera processing, lighting and surrounding colours can change how a fabric appears online. Treat website images as a useful reference rather than an exact colour standard.
What to inspect on a sample
- Colour in the actual daylight and artificial lighting of the project
- Face, reverse, texture, sheen and opacity
- Weight, drape, flexibility and thickness
- Stretch direction, fraying and handling
- Response to the proposed thread, needle, adhesive or joining method
- Compatibility with the approved cleaning method
Batch variation
Manufacturing runs can differ slightly in shade, texture or finish. Where consistent appearance matters, order enough material from a confirmed batch for the complete project and a reasonable repair allowance. Record the product name, colour, batch or roll reference where available.
Standard colours and availability
Current standard colours include Royal Blue, Navy, Black, Bottle Green and Beige, subject to the exact product and current stock. A colour offered in one fabric family is not automatically available in every construction, width or finish.
Approval for larger projects
For production or multi-item work, have the responsible person approve the physical sample and specification before cutting. Confirm continuous length, quantity and acceptable tolerances when placing the order.
A sample represents the supplied piece; it is not a guarantee that later batches will be visually identical.
