Correct care protects the appearance and useful life of fabric before, during and after production. The safest method depends on the fibre, coating, finish, colour and intended use of the exact material.

Before cleaning

  • Check the product-specific care information.
  • Test any cleaning method on an inconspicuous offcut.
  • Remove loose dirt before applying water or cleaner.
  • Avoid assuming that a coated, outdoor or PVC fabric uses the same method as another product in the category.

Routine cleaning

Use the gentlest effective method. Aggressive scrubbing, solvents, bleach, high heat or unsuitable detergents may affect colour, coatings, adhesives or surface finishes. Do not recommend a chemical treatment unless compatibility with the exact material is confirmed.

Drying

Dry material fully before folding or long-term storage. Trapped moisture and dirt can contribute to odour, staining or biological growth. Support heavy wet items so that stretching and hardware damage are limited.

Storage

  • Store clean and dry in a ventilated, protected area.
  • Keep fabric away from prolonged direct sunlight, heat sources and chemicals.
  • Avoid tight folds that repeatedly stress a coating or create permanent creases.
  • Support rolls horizontally or according to the supplier method; do not crush the edges.
  • Label remnants with product name, colour and batch where known.

Care of finished projects

Seams, foam, linings, thread, webbing, fasteners and adhesives may have different care limits from the outer fabric. A finished item should be assessed as a complete construction.

This is general handling guidance. Follow the confirmed care instructions for the exact fabric and finished product.
